Lockdown day 56 - total deaths 34,636.
The big news today is that a loss of smell and or taste is now considered a key symptom according to the NHS list, which confirms now a total of three symptoms. While healthcare professionals across the country are pleased (there have been calls to make such step for a while now, and rightly so, as there are few other causes for such symptoms) one could say it's too little too late.
As the country continues to come out of lockdown, the debate surrounding transport rages on. Recently stickers assisting social distancing have been put in place in main train stations, but not on the actual trains, which obviously makes social distancing within a station for someone about to get onto a packed train a completely pointless and no doubt distressing exercise.
The government has also provided an additional circa £80m towards opening a research centre a year early in a bid to 'fast-track' a vaccine, while simultaneously announcing a possibility that a vaccine might never be found.
